What herbs and spices should I use for glowing skin?

Spices and herbs have therapeutic advantages for your skin. In addition to solving skin problems, they improve the cellular firmness and health of the skin. Below is a detailed list of herbs, spices, natural remedies that will do wonders to your skin.

1. Turmeric

Turmeric is arguably the most potent remedy for skin problems. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties deeply nourish the skin and remove blemishes. The antiseptic properties of turmeric help acne and other skin conditions like rosacea and eczema.

Research shows that curcumin, the antioxidant in turmeric may also help fight melanoma when topically applied on the affected skin. For better results, consider adding turmeric to your diets and apply a turmeric face mask too.

3. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is packed with antioxidants that fight against skin damage. The antifungal and antibacterial properties of cinnamon help acne and skin blemishes.

It is important to note that after a specific period of time, spices lose their potency and flavour. Always discard the bottles that have stayed for more than two years. Also, store spices in a cool dark place.  Heat and sunlight will decrease their potency.

4. Ginger

Taking ginger will increase your skin elasticity thus getting rid off of wrinkles. It fights off blemishes, pimples, and acne due to the powerful antiseptic and cleansing qualities present in ginger.

Minor burns can be dealt with using ginger. Ginger will dry the burn if it is rubbed slowly onto the wound or if possible extracting its juice and applying it on the wound.

5. Calendula

Calendula has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties that are responsible for its skin benefits. Carotenoids, the oil-soluble compound in calendula heals inflammation, psoriasis, rashes, age spots, dermatitis, varicose veins, stretch marks, and warts.

Lavender has antioxidants and antimicrobial properties. These fight premature aging resulting from oxidative harm and kills bacteria responsible for causing skin diseases like acne, ringworms, blisters, and other mild skin infections. As long as they have got the content you are looking for in huge amounts then you are good to go. Be careful of allergies, first contact your physician using any cosmetics on your skin.

There are lots of articles on the web showing how to make pastes for face masks. But be careful because a poor mixture can make things worse for your skin.

Other ways to get the perfect skin

The skin is complicated and doesn’t have short cuts to make it look better. Rather, its a chain of activities and a good diet. Below are other ways that may contribute to maintaining youthful skin.

1. Stay hydrated

Drinking enough water will keep the skin hydrated all the time. So don’t expect to solve skin dryness when your water intake is poor. Set drinking reminders if you have to, or carry a water bottle on you.

2. Do daily exercise.

Sweating opens the skin pores to remove the toxins. This helps the body to flush out harmful toxins that would have caused pimples and other skin related conditions.

3. Mind your hair products.

If you have long hair that rubs the face, you have got high chances of getting skin problems and with this, I mean the face. If your hair products don’t go well with your skin, then hair rubbing your skin can create a very big problem.

It is important to find out whether the product you are about to use on hair treatment has no effect on your skin, most especially the face.

4. Get more sleep

We are all advised to have less sleep to be successful. But with the skin, it’s a different case. sleep deprivation leads to plenty of skin problems and accelerated aging, sagging skin, and wrinkles.

Aim at having at least 7 hours of sleep every day to achieve healthy skin.

5. Wash off the makeup overnight.

After a long day or date, you may be exhausted but don’t take it as an excuse to just get into bed and sleep. Wash off the makeup to allow the skin to breathe through the night as you sleep.

6. Change pillows and bedsheets

When you sleep, makeup, dead skin, and body oils fall onto your pillow and bedsheets.  This can be a breeding place for bacteria which might cause skin diseases. So consider changing your beddings more often than you have been doing.

7. Clean your makeup brushes.

Everybody gets lazy sometimes but its always costly. It is true using dirty makeup brushes might seem minor but it’s a bad move. Bacteria from previous body oils, dead skin, and dirt build-up and can be the center of infection. It’s wise to clean your makeup props every day for better skin.

8. Invest in quality skincare products.

Don’t hold back when you looking for better skin. If it means spending a little more than you had budgeted, go for it. Good skin is an owner’s pride. Get that product with the right ingredients for perfect skin.

9. Try to control stress.

Demanding jobs, bankruptcy, break-ups, and many others cause stress. Stress somehow complicates the body system. It causes skin damage, wrinkling, sagging, and more.

Try to curb your stress levels by doing exercises, spend time with friends or pets.

10. Always wear a smile on the face

Being happy stimulates positive body growth and functionality. Avoid frowning all the time. This can accelerate aging by around 6 times normal.

Keep a happy face and always wear a smile for better results. If you are getting trouble smiling, just fake it and put those face muscles to an exercise. This will send a response to your body that you are happy. A happy mind equals a healthy body.

The bottom line

Keep your diet in check, practice good hygiene, and use quality skincare products and you will get better skin. I remain your caring pal don’t hesitate to leave a comment it means a lot. Thank you.
